November’s Wine: Serres Velles Macabeu

Some wines can describe a landscape better than a thousand words. Serres Velles Macabeu, from Montrubí, made from old-vine Macabeu grapes, is one of them. Behind its golden hue lies the story of meticulous work that begins in the vineyard and ends in a glass full of nuance.

It’s a special wine born from a double harvest: an early picking in September, bringing freshness and tension, and a second one in October, adding body and structure. It then ferments in stainless steel and matures in new 500-litre French oak barrels, where it gains complexity without losing its Mediterranean essence.

When poured into the glass, Serres Velles Macabeu evokes forest mornings, with aromas of pine, dry grass, ginger, and ripe white fruit. On the palate, its minerality and freshness reflect the limestone character of the soil. It has a long, vibrant finish. At the table, it pairs beautifully with baked fish, rice dishes, cheese boards, or slow-cooked meats.

Serres Velles Macabeu is more than a white wine, it’s an interpretation of a time and place, a way of understanding this noble variety capable of expressing true identity.

Find it in stores or on our website. Its approximate retail price is €22.
